Now in its 12th year, Rockies Venture Club’s Angel Capital Summit (ACS) has become Colorado’s largest angel investing event. ACS is a two-day celebration of startups, investors and big ideas, with 300-400 participants. This year, the ACS theme will focus on the importance of mobilizing capital to support early stage ventures.
Addressing this theme of capital mobilization will be Wendy Guillies, President and CEO of the Kansas City-based Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, one of the largest private foundations in the United States with more than $2 billion in assets. Guillies leads the Foundation’s work to boost student achievement in Kansas City and to accelerate entrepreneurship across the country. Before becoming CEO, she played an instrumental role in building the Foundation’s local, national and global reputation as a thought leader and innovator in its fields.
On Day Two of ACS, we’ll have another Keynote Speaker in Betsy Markey. Betsy was appointed by Governor Jared Polis to his cabinet as Executive Director of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade in January 2019. She has over 30 years of leadership experience in government and the private sector serving as a Member of Congress, a senior federal executive, and the co-founder and CFO of a high tech company. Betsy will join those in attendance to talk about the future of Colorado's startup economy and the role both startups and angel investors currently play and how that role may shift in years to come.
In addition to these incredible thought leaders, ACS will feature ample networking and social opportunities, a panel of industry experts providing their perspectives on the mobilzation for captial, and 15+ companies presenting to the audience in an effort to raise capital through the RVC investment syndicates. The ACS also celebrates Colorado's University Entrepreneurship Programs with the University Startup Challenge, featuring the top student entrepreneur teams from Colorado's Universities. Past ACS presenters have gone on to raise $10's of millions of dollars in funding and are growing Colorado's economy. Who will the winners be this year?
