Stravinsky reinvented his compositional approach in the aftermath of WWI and the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918 – distilling the opulence and intricacy of his early works into an intimate, condensed style. L’Histoire du soldat (The Soldier’s Tale) is a theatrical work “to be read, played, and danced” and takes on an intimacy that suits the moralizing message of the drama: greed leads to ruin. The Boulder Phil is delighted to collaborate with our friends in the CU Department of Theater and Boulder Ballet to present this unique program.
A pre-concert discussion will be held via Zoom at 7 PM. This event premieres on April 3 and will be available for on-demand viewing until April 17.
