Topic: Representation Matters 

Back in 1972, the first year women were officially allowed to participate in the Boston Marathon, only 8 women ran. Today 12,171 women are racing in a field of 28,600. Representation Matters. When we can see ourselves in others, we expand our own horizons.
 
At our October BWLG we are excited to introduce you to several Boulder Women who breaking down gender barriers and carving their own paths within traditionally male dominated industries. Please join us for this special panel discussion where we will learn their stories of passion, resilience and success.

Amy VanAntwerp | CordenPharma
Amy is a native to Boulder. She attended Colorado State and Tulane University. For the last 20 years, she has worked at Corden Pharma Colorado (formerly Roche) as an Industrial Hygienist and most recently the site Pandemic Coordinator as well. As an industrial hygienist, she does not clean, but ensure that employees are protected from the chemicals that are used in making pharmaceutical products. Her specialty is in the field of highly potent and has led Corden Pharma Colorado’s (CPC) highly potent compound division to be recognized as an industry leader. This has included, in 2013, gaining a potent compound handling certification for the CPC plant site. Amy’s integral work in achieving this certification has helped her company be recognized as a worldwide leader. She is passionate about ensuring that employees go home safe each day. As she progresses in her career and the women’s rights culture changes, she feels it is more important than ever that to participate in programs that empower woman to strive to be in male driven industries and excel.
Amy lives in Longmont, CO with her husband and two dogs. She loves exploring the Colorado Mountains and the Northern Michigan waters, where her husband is from.
 

 

Janae Winner, CFP®, CDFA®, ChSNC®  | Financial Advisor | UBS Financial Services Inc. | 303-488-3171
After receiving her BA from the University of Chicago in Economics, Janae began her career in investment banking at Credit Suisse. Janae was in fixed income sales and trading in Chicago, working with an institutional client base that included several Fortune 500 companies. After her trading days, she decided she wanted to give back. She taught algebra and coached high school basketball in the Marshall Islands, Guatemala then Denver. Teaching was rewarding, but she missed finance. She joined UBS in Global Wealth Management with a focus in financial planning and is based in Boulder. She is a financial advisor at UBS and helps high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals and families with complex financial planning and investment strategies. Janae has several financial planning designations: CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Chartered Special Needs Consultant®, and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst.  In her free time enjoys hiking, skiing, and spending time with her two children, Neyla and Luca.


Hannah Harrington | Firefighter Station 3
My name is Hannah Harrington and I have been with the Boulder Fire Department for a little over 9 years. I grew up in Alaska and moved down to Colorado in 2009. I started off going to school at the Art Institute of Colorado but quickly realized it was not the path for me. I started personal training and found my way to the fire service. I got hired with Boulder Fire in 2013 and am currently on C shift at Station 3 which is the Water Rescue station located at 30th and Arapahoe. I am currently a firefighter and member of the Water Rescue team. I am 1 of 2 leads of the Peer Support team, the Peer Fitness Team Lead, as well as a member of the Local 900 Executive Board. I am married to a Thornton Fire Paramedic Firefighter and my husband and I have two dogs together. We enjoy traveling and adventuring together in our spare time and making the most out of the time we spend together.
