CO Highway 119 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Commuter Bikeway Projects - Employer Focus Group

The focus group will be hosted by Boulder Transportation Connections (BTC) (the Transportation Management Organization (TMO) for the city of Boulder and the sustainable transportation services arm of the Boulder Chamber) and the Multimodal Transportation Planning Division of the Boulder County Community Planning & Permitting Department.

Purpose:
The purpose of the focus group is for County staff to present their plans for the installation of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and a Commuter bikeway along the corridor, and to obtain input from employers along the corridor regarding how to design the BRT line and stations and the bikeway in such a way that they are useful to their employees (particularly those who identify as low-income shift workers or any workers interested in finding cheaper more sustainable way to commute).

Background:
Boulder County, Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), and the Regional Transportation District (RTD) are working together to improve safety and expand multimodal travel options along the Diagonal Highway (CO 119 from Boulder to Longmont). User-friendly connections between the bikeway, buses, and park-n-rides will provide a variety of new transportation options in the 119 Corridor that will improve safety, accessibility, and equity, while reducing climate change impacts.

The Bikeway Project – led by Boulder County – will create a safe, direct, and accessible separated hard surface bikeway with seamless connections to the BOLT and future bus rapid transit and connect to bike networks in Boulder, Gunbarrel, Niwot, and Longmont.

The Safety and Mobility Project – led by CDOT and RTD – will create Bus Rapid Transit, bus stations, park-n-rides, improved pedestrian crossings, and intersection improvements.
