LONGMONT, CO – “Create Beauty Design Conference” – the region’s premiere conference exploring the intersection of beauty, sustainability and biodiversity for outdoor spaces–will be held February 22-23, 2018 and will feature renowned designer and author Roy Diblik. The second annual Create Beauty Design Conference, an open to the community event produced by Tree of Life Landscapes, will be held at the Longmont Museum and is headlined by a discussion with Diblik on the subject of “Intimacy by Design: Exploring the Relationship of Plants and People.”
 
“We could not be more pleased to have Roy bring his wealth of knowledge to the Create Beauty Conference in February,” said Johnny Moore, Tree of Life designer and conference director. “The conference this year will be a great community event – whether you are learning the basics of how to use plants in your backyard or you are a seasoned professional with years of design or installation experience; there will be something for everyone.”
 
The two days of festivities will kickoff at 7:00 p.m., February 22 with a screening of the film Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf at the Academy Boulder at 970 Aurora Ave., Boulder, CO. Five Seasons is an exploration of the gardens and approach taken by contemporary Dutch landscape designer Piet Oudolf, best known for his work on the High Line in New York City as well as at Millennium Park in Chicago. The following day the conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Conference attendees will hear Diblik draw from four decades of experience growing perennials as he discusses the intimate relationships between plants, design, and people as well as discuss his own design process; from planting and mulching to maintaining sustainable growth. Diblik is known for work on at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Shed Aquarium and his partnership with Piet Oudolf. Diblik is the owner of Northwind Perennial Farm and author of The Know Maintenance Garden.
 
Other speakers include Denver Botanic Gardens horticulturalist, Kevin Williams, discussing matrix seed mix planting techniques to create self-sustaining, hyper-naturalistic landscapes.
