Name: CU Boulder: Coding Immersion Workshop
Date: October 25, 2016
Time: 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM MDT
Event Description:

The College of Media, Communication and Information at the University of Colorado Boulder is hosting an immersive coding workshop Oct. 28-30 for those interested in learning the building blocks of web design.  Whether you're a beginner who wants to get started in web development, a designer looking to hand-code their concepts, or a journalist who wants to start building a portfolio to showcase your work, we can assist you.

In this hands-on introductory workshop, we’ll learn about web development and how the web works. We’ll go over key coding terminology and principles, introduce languages like HTML and CSS, discuss what their functions are and how they work together. Attendees will use that new knowledge to write our own code and develop a simple portfolio site. Lunches will be provided as part of the registration.

By attending this workshop, you will walk away with the ability to publish your own content, and you will be empowered to host projects.

The workshop is led by award-winning programmer Jeff Passetti, who designs and runs the website for the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse, NY. He will be assisted by visiting professor Ross Taylor, who teaches in CMCI.
