Foothills Farm Fest & Action Day ft Music from Dirtwire

Drylands Agroecology Research is excited to offer the community an inside-look into the world of regenerative land design through the Foothills Farm Collective's 2nd Farm Fest! This all-day event will include many ways to engage: from our Farm Hop bus tour of 3 regenerative farms (all designed by DAR), to the Farm Fest market, featuring live music from Dirtwire, and 2 Action Day activities: skinning the hoop house and prepping the pathway garden at the Yellow Barn!

The Foothills Farm Collective of Boulder County/Longmont are excited to offer a guided tour on a chartered bus ride to each farm (courtesy of WonderTours). The tour will meet and end at The Yellow Barn Farm (10 minute drive outside of North Boulder) and will be led through a guided tour to Elk Run, Metacarbon, and The Yellow Barn Farm. At the end of the tour, there will be a market with live music, featuring Dirtwire, at the historic Yellow Barn! This event will be free and open to the public. 

FARM HOP: 10am-1pm

Learn about permaculture design, a science rooted in traditional land management practices, founded on 12 principles and 3 ethics that can apply both to land and human systems. Regenerative farming utilizes traditional ancient land, water, crop, and livestock management techniques to replenish rather than deplete soil and food nutrients. 

The climate is changing and we need to learn how to adapt and restore instead of extract and deplete. By leveraging technology, the Farmer's Collective aims to build a local a mycelial network of people, businesses, and farms that can all support each other to rebuild our communities and truly start to heal the Earth. 

FARM FEST: 1pm-4pm

The Farm Hop tour will start the day's events, and as we end our tour at the Yellow Barn, the group will have entry to our local farmer's market where we will have farms, businesses, food, and music for the rest of the afternoon!

David Satori from Dirtwire will be joining us from 1pm-2pm for a DJ set. 

Farm Force: 2pm-4pm

We will have two Action Day tasks open to volunteers:

• Help us complete our pathway garden prep
• Join our celebratory end-of-season covering of the hoop house
