You've imagined that, right?
It's the part of the story where you:
Buuuuut... a little resistance, a little fear, a little "I'm-too-busy," a little "I-have-no-idea-where-to-begin," a little "But-I-don't-want-to-be-salesy" gets in the way and keeps you from stepping up and stepping in to your genius-thought-leader, bad-ass-business-owner self.
So your business gets thirsty, you tell yourself you're not a speaker, and you resign yourself to the staying-small, who-do-I-think-I-am-anyway version of yourself.
I’ve been on stages as a theater artist for over 20 years, but when I started my business as a public speaking coach, I actually thought I could get away without speaking.
“What?! Me speak? I’m not a speaker. I can help people become better speakers, but I’m not a speaker myself!!
The first time I gave a talk, all I wanted was to survive the talk still standing, still breathing, mostly unharmed.
I managed to do that. People said “Great talk!” and went on about their lives.
I achieved my goal: I survived.
But no one said yes.
No one said Tell me more.
No one raised their hand.
After that I started studying the Speak To Sell formulas. I was a Public Speaking Coach after all. I had to.
At least I thought I did.
In my coaching work I was helping people reclaim the full power of their voices and bring more of themselves to the stage. I was showing them the value of vulnerability, of telling stories that took them to the edge, of making real connections with people they know they can serve.
But when it came to my own speaking, I was home sweating and fretting because the speak to sell formula WASN’T WORKING.
That’s when I tossed the formulas and decided to do what I know how to do best:
And connect in a real, open-hearted, vulnerable way.
That’s when I got 50% of the room to raise their hands...like kindergarteners wanting to erase the chalkboard.
“Ooh ooh me! Me! Me! I wanna do that!”
I figured out I didn't need any sleazy sales formulas, but that showing up as myself and speaking directly to the needs and desires of the people in the audience was all I needed to inspire people to TAKE ACTION.
I want to show you how to bring your awesome quirky self to the stage so your audience hears you speak, sees your genius and KNOWS you’re the one for them.
