Name: INCLUSIPEDIA MONTHLY EDITING SESSION
Date: September 20, 2018
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM MDT
Event Description:

Learn how to create and edit Wikipedia pages as part of our Inclusipedia project! We’ll show you how to add women and people of color from Boulder’s past and present to Wikipedia to ensure their stories are preserved.

Did you know that Wikipedia is the world’s largest encyclopedia, with millions of entries crowdsourced by volunteer editors from all over the world, but only 17% of biographical pages are for women (with even fewer for women of color). We have identified over 20 influential figures from Boulder’s history that lack Wikipedia pages – Mary Rippon, Clela Rorex, Penfield Tate, Lucile Buchanan, for example – making it virtually impossible for online researchers to find their stories. We’re inviting participants to help us build out those pages and suggest other pages to create, so their impact is felt for generations to come.

Each session will include a short training and then collaborative editing, plus snacks! Please bring your ideas and a laptop or tablet if possible (a few extras will be available).
