B:CIVIC and the Boulder Chamber are proud to be partnering together to present a compelling program to encourage and expand your business’ involvement and benefits from community philanthropy!

Corporate social responsibility and business philanthropy is becoming more of a business imperative with the world’s consumers expecting it to be a part of every company.  In Boulder, we have known the importance of giving back for decades, and the Boulder Chamber and B:CIVIC are proud to partner for a combined Sparks ‘n Sips and Business After Hours event focused on this important topic.  Are you leveraging your community work as much as you could to attract customers and employees?  Do you want to hear new ideas, best practices and lessons learned?  Want to network with others who believe that giving back is important no matter the industry or size of company?

Join us to hear the top national and local trends for businesses and forward-thinking organizations from a panel of local and regional business leaders representing an array of industries and sizes of companies. Su Hawk, Director of B:CIVIC will moderate a discussions of panelists including:
  • Dr. Mark Meaney, Executive Director of Center for Education on Social Responsibility at University of Colorado Leeds School of Business, as he discusses his experiences in ethics and compliance in industries including healthcare, higher education, global engineering, government contracts, transportation and non-profits.
  • Kim Coupounas, Director of B Lab, a nonprofit organization that certifies “B Corporations” and supports a global movement of people using the power of business as a force for good. 
  • Richard Polk, President of Pedestrian Shops, a leading retailer of comfortable footwear noted for social programs and green business practices, including collecting 35,000 pairs of reusable footwear for people in need. Pedestrian operates a 10 kilowatt solar array and may be the world’s first solar powered shoe store. 
  • Sondra Smith, Director of Level 3 Foundation, Inc. Sondra manages Level 3’s corporate social responsibility program, Level 3 Cares and the day-to-day operations of the Level 3 Foundation, Inc, a separate 501c3 public charity. She also serves as an adjunct professor with the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver, teaching courses in the MS Legal Administration and is a guest lecturer at the University of Colorado's Certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility program through CESR. 
After the presentation, join members of the Boulder business community at the Boulder Chamber’s Business After Hours at Impact Hub Boulder, beginning at 6:00p.m. (fee is $15.00) Register for one or both events at checkout.
