Be warned – this is a stellar vintage, the greatest since the extraordinary 2010. Of course, 2016 is great too, and even 2015, which in Saint Cosme was memorable. But there is a freshness, an intensity, an evanescence, something undefinable that is charming and vibrant in the 2019s. A wine with a substantial structure, it is also brimming with fruit and shows great concentration, counterbalanced by the finest freshness. Unique for the Southern Rhone, this is 100% Syrah with lots of depth for a modest price. It’s classic Rhone Syrah with aromas of violets, olives and black fruits and lots of complexity. Delicious on its own and will complement a wide range of foods.
Fragrances of violet and sandalwood with tell-tale garrigue layered on top of Syrah’s typical black pepper, black olive, and dark-berry aromas. The palate is medium bodied with supple tannins and a bit more blueberry and blackberry notes. The finish is surprisingly long and rewarding. This is as good as Syrah gets under $20! A fantastic value!
Pair this with Moroccan tagine chicken to compliment the spice!
