Halloween is in the books and now we look forward to entertaining season. As we progress through November and December, we'll highlight wines that pair with all the traditional holiday meals and festivities. This week we'll showcase four wines great with appetizers. These are typically lighter, fun, and on the drier side.
Join us at Pettyjohn's tonight from 5-7 and get your palette prepped for the holidays!
Domaine Saint Andrieu Rose L'Oratoire
“Brilliant salmon skin. Nervy and sharply focused on the nose, displaying fresh pit fruit and red berry scents and a hint of orange peel. Lively red currant, strawberry and nectarine flavors slowly open up and deepen with air. Clings strongly on the finish, which leaves a refreshingly bitter peach pit note behind.” – 91 points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous
Chateau Guillebot Plaisance Bordeaux Blanc
The Nose is dominated by hints of citrus and white flowers, and evolve in notes of honey and dried fruits. The mouth is very balanced, skillfully blending vivacity and roundness. Grapes are harvested by hand and put in small cases in order not to damage the fruits. Grapes are pressed softly, they ferment in oak barrels produced by our cooperage. 1/3 are new barrels. Aging usually lasts 15 months on fine lies before bottling.
Girasole Vineyards Pinot Blanc Organic
This lovely wine draws you in with colors of straw mixed with yellow hues and flecks of gold. Aromas of ripe tropical fruits, white peach and citrus blossoms greet your senses. Upon taking your first sip, you are rewarded with flavors of fig, apple and orange peel. This is a vibrant dry white wine, with a terrific balance of fruit, crisp acids and our signature Mendocino minerality. 100% Pinot Blanc. Vegan Friendly.
Burgan's Albarino Rias Baixas
A crisp wine that exhibits aromas of ginger and flowers with flavors of tropical fruits and minerals is completely enjoyable. Lovely acidity frames and extends the fruit as well as making it ideal with food. Another terrific value from Eric Solomon Selections.
