Join Motus Theater on Saturday April 9th at 7pm for an Improvisational Theater Adventure of Power Playback with Special Guest, International Award-winning Slam Poet Dominique Christina!
Motus Theater invites you to join us for a special adventure in playback improvisational theater to support entertaining, edgy and awesome community storytelling. Motus calls these performances “Power Playback Theater,” because there is power within our stories and our truths. Stories are how we share our human adventure - the comedy, tragedy and resilience of life’s journey.
Come and share a short reflection or story inspired by the night’s theme, and then watch professional playback actors enact YOUR story on the spot using movement, music, and dramatic spoken word.
The stories may be funny or sad, memories from long ago or yesterday. Audience and performers co-create a theater event whose subject is the life experiences of the people attending the show.
You will also meet new local performers who are experimenting with this exciting form of improv theater. And you will hear powerful poems on the night’s theme from international award-winning slam poet, Dominique Christina. You don’t want to miss this!
Themes and Dates for Upcoming Performances:
Saturday April 2 at 7pm: Pandora & Pandemics. Come share something from your experience of the pandemic and the pain, loss, or unexpected gifts that might have emerged.
Saturday April 9th at 7pm: Guns, Crisis & Courage. A year after the shooting at King Soopers Table Mesa in Boulder and the recent shootings in Denver, there is so much in our minds and hearts. Risk raising your hand and reflecting on your experiences with guns, crisis, courage, and your own sweet life.
Saturday May 21st at 7pm: Caretaking & Care-Receiving. There is an art to giving and receiving, as well as negotiating the burnout, blessings, grief and gratitude of these roles. How are you surviving, sinking or thriving?
