BOARDS WITH BRAINS is SVP’s board governance education series (learn more, below). Join us for our 2015 trainings, like this one: Every nonprofit needs to get the word out to accomplish its goals, but most don’t have a huge budget to do so. Learn how you can reach out into the community and increase involvement in your organization.
About this Session:
This session teaches board members how to expand awareness and understanding of their organization and its cause. We will investigate how board members serve as ambassadors and cheerleaders, starting with those audiences closest to the organization and working out to the general public. Learn how to assess your organization’s audiences, the actions you hope to motivate them to take, and your opportunities for public outreach to expand your networks. Session objectives include:
- Assess your organization’s public outreach needs and target audiences
- Assess your own skills as an ambassador
- Learn how to act as an ambassador and train others
About our Presenter:
Rebecca Arno is the Vice President of Communications for The Denver Foundation. Prior to this, Rebecca was Vice President of Communications for The Daniels Fund and communications manager for the Peninsula Community Foundation in San Mateo, California. She has also worked with nonprofits in the health and environmental sectors. Rebecca serves on the board of Hunger Free Colorado and is chair emeritus of the boards of the Colorado Nonprofit Association and the Communications Network, a national network of communications professionals. Rebecca earned her Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management from Regis University, as part of the Colorado Trust Fellows program.

With that in mind, we've designed our BOARDS WITH BRAINS professional development series. We've got recurring sessions covering governance fundamentals (a nice refresher, or first-timer introduction), as well as sessions digging into leadership topics (deep-dives into specific areas of governance best practice).

Our per-session fee is a below-market $30, and each session includes a limited number of scholarship slots.
