Founded by Local Physicians, Hippo Health Provides Coloradans with Expert, Local, Affordable Healthcare via Smartphone and Desktop

Drawing its name from the Hippocratic Oath, Hippo Health is a secure, affordable and easy-to-use telemedicine service that connects Coloradans with local, board-certified emergency physicians. Hippo Health subscribers have unlimited access to physicians from 8am until midnight. The service costs $19 per month for individuals and $37 per month for families of up to seven. Additional family members can be added for $5 per month. Health insurance is not required to use Hippo Health and users can pay with a flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA).

Through the Hippo Health iOS or desktop apps, users can communicate with a local physician with live in-app chat, photos, video, or a phone call to receive diagnoses, medical advice and prescriptions in minutes.

“Many of us at Hippo Health have young and growing families ourselves, and we understand that it can be a real challenge to know what to do and when to do it. Unfortunately, we also know that people are having to make suboptimal health decisions, like not visiting a doctor or emergency room when they probably should, strictly because of the cost,” said Kevin McGarvey, Hippo Health co-founder and CEO. “Hippo Health offers another option. We’re there when you need us, right on your phone.”

Hippo Health is a member of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce. Hippo is offering Chamber members one month of free service. Contact Erik MacDonald at erik@hippohealth.com for more info.
